Job Overview

As a Cashier at Young Wine & Cork, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing them with a welcoming and efficient checkout experience. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle transactions accurately.

Job Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases.
• Operate the cash register, process sales transactions, and handle cash, credit, and debit payments.
• Ensure the accuracy of transactions and provide customers with receipts.
• Answer customer inquiries and provide information about products and promotions.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
• Assist in stocking shelves and organizing product displays.
• Monitor inventory levels and inform management of low stock items.
• Handle customer complaints or concerns in a professional manner and escalate to management when necessary.
• Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.

Qualifications/Skills

• Proven experience as a cashier or in a similar customer service role.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly.
• Basic math skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with electronic cash registers and POS systems.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight.
• Interest in wine and willingness to learn about products.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a retail or hospitality setting is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of wines and spirits is an asset but not required.
