Farm Worker

Didaruke Lopo Farms is currently seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Farm Workers. As a Farm Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our farm. Responsibilities:

1. Crop Maintenance: Perform various tasks related to crop maintenance, including but not limited to planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, and harvesting. Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure optimal plant health and productivity.
2. Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain farm equipment, such as tractors, irrigation systems, and hand tools. Follow all safety protocols and report any equipment malfunctions or repairs needed.
3. Irrigation and Water Management: Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution to crops. Assist in maintaining proper drainage systems and water conservation practices.
4. Pest and Disease Control: Assist in implementing pest and disease control measures, including monitoring for signs of infestation, applying pesticides or herbicides as directed, and maintaining accurate records of treatments.
5. Packaging and Grading: Prepare crops for market by sorting, grading, and packaging them according to quality standards. Ensure proper handling and storage to maintain product freshness and minimize waste.
6. General Farm Maintenance: Participate in general farm maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, repairing fences, and maintaining farm buildings and equipment. Assist with the setup and dismantling of temporary structures as needed.
7. Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Report any hazards, accidents, or injuries immediately to the supervisor.
8. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of crop production activities, including planting dates, crop yields, and pesticide applications. Assist in data collection for reporting purposes.

Requirements:

1. Previous Experience: Prior experience in farming or agriculture is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
2. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Farm work often requires manual labor in various weather conditions.
3. Team Player: Capable of working effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues, and following instructions from supervisors.
4. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in crop maintenance, grading, and record-keeping activities.
5. Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as farming operations may require extended work hours during peak seasons.
6. Valid Work Authorization: Must have legal authorization to work in Canada.
7. Language Skills: Proficiency in English (verbal and written) is required.
