Job Title: Construction Safety Coordinator
The Construction Safety Coordinator will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment on construction sites in Canada. This role requires expertise in safety regulations, knowledge of construction practices, and strong communication skills. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with construction teams, implement safety protocols, and contribute to the successful completion of projects.
- Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites, identifying hazards and recommending corrective measures.
- Provide safety training and orientations to construction workers on topics such as hazard identification, PPE usage, and safe work practices.
- Monitor and enforce safety regulations and standards, ensuring compliance by all workers and subcontractors.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, documenting findings and recommending preventive measures.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and workers to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Review and update safety manuals, procedures, and policies to reflect changes in regulations or industry best practices.
- Stay current with relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards, and ensure their implementation on construction sites.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Construction Safety Coordinator, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and practices.
- Familiarity with construction processes, equipment, and hazards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Experience working on construction projects in Canada or similar environments.
- Knowledge of Canadian safety regulations and standards.
