Job Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial trucks to transport goods and materials across designated routes.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety protocols to ensure a secure and accident-free journey.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical soundness and safe operation.
- Load and unload cargo while adhering to proper weight distribution and securement practices.
- Plan routes effectively, considering factors such as traffic, weather, and road conditions.
- Communicate with dispatchers and team members to provide updates on delivery progress and potential delays.
- Complete delivery paperwork, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and mileage logs.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on the truck, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and performing minor repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and trailer.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 1 or Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) from a recognized authority.
- Proven experience as a Truck Driver, preferably with a minimum of 2-3 years of long-haul driving experience.
- Clean driving record and adherence to safety regulations.
- Strong understanding of trucking regulations and compliance.
- Excellent navigation and route planning skills.
- Effective communication skills to interact with dispatchers and team members.
- Mechanical aptitude to perform basic maintenance tasks.
- Physical stamina to handle loading and unloading tasks and long hours of driving.
- Valid work permit or eligibility for visa sponsorship in Canada.
