Job Summary: As a Sawmill Labourer, you will play a crucial role in our sawmill operations, supporting the production of high-quality lumber and wood products. You will work closely with experienced sawmill professionals, gaining valuable knowledge and skills in wood processing. This position requires a strong work ethic, adaptability to various tasks, and a commitment to safety standards to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow within the sawmill.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the loading and unloading of logs and lumber using forklifts and other machinery.
  • Operate and maintain sawmill equipment, such as conveyors, saws, and planers, under the guidance of experienced operators.
  • Sort and stack lumber according to grade and size specifications for further processing.
  • Clean and clear sawdust and debris from work areas to maintain a safe and organized environment.
  • Monitor and inspect lumber for defects and quality issues, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
  • Support the maintenance team in routine inspections and minor repairs of sawmill machinery.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during all work activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of lumber orders for shipment and loading onto trucks or railcars.
  • Collaborate with other sawmill workers to ensure efficient production and workflow.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a sawmill or woodworking environment is beneficial but not mandatory.
